Invitation to FIDIC-ASPAC Conference 2018
It is my pleasure on behalf of the Association of Consulting Engineers Sri Lanka (ACESL), the member organization of FIDIC in Sri Lanka to invite you personally to attend the 2018 FIDIC Asia – Pacific Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka to be taken place from 24th to 27th June 2018.
As a main item in the FIDIC annual calendar and also as an important event in the Asia Pacific region, the conference will address a wider spectrum of Engineering and Construction issues relevant to the region.
As Asia Pacific region changes and becomes the global economic powerhouse of the next decade, the infrastructure needs across the region will change too. It is forecasted that the Asia’s infrastructure market will show a high growth rate of 7% – 8% in the coming years. At this growth rate the total infrastructure market will reach US$5.3 trillion by 2025, accounting to 60% of the world total. In this context the conference will provide a greater opportunity for the construction industry professionals in the region to meet, discuss and network under the conference main theme of ‘regional connectivity’
Purposely selected technical tours coupled with spectacular events have also been included both for the conference participants and accompanying persons who will have their own special programme offering a wonderful way to explore the beauty and the hospitality of Sri Lanka.
I look forward to seeing you in Colombo in June 2018 and for your active participation and valued contribution in the Conference.
Visit Sri Lanka – feel the hospitality

Welcome Message from ASPAC Chair
Dear Conference Delegates and Guests,
On behalf of ASPAC, FIDIC Group of Asia and Pacific Member Associations, I would like to warmly welcome you to Colombo, the Eastern Crossroads, the gateway to Sri Lanka and the venue for the FIDIC-ASPAC 2018 Conference.
Infrastructures, as the foundations of modern life, play essential roles in economic and social development. More and more countries have realized that infrastructure connectivity can vigorously promote national and regional economic growth. Therefore, many initiatives come out from our region — “One Belt, One Road” from China, “‘Blue Economy’and Act East Policies” from India, “Eurasia initiative” from South Korea, “Partnership for quality infrastructure: investment for Asia’s future” from Japan, “Master Plan of ASEAN Connectivity” from ASEAN community and so on. All those initiatives highlight the importance of infrastructure connectivity.
Our Asia-Pacific region accounts for about 60% of the world’s population and comprises 30% of the world’s total land area. The geographical, social and economic diversity poses various challenges to the connectivity among infrastructures in the region. Despite these challenges, many successful plans, programs and projects have been implemented in the past, and more promising progress will be made in the years to come.
This conference, with the theme of “Infrastructure Connectivity in ASPAC region”, will bring an exciting opportunity for networking and brainstorming to all of you, the leaders and professionals from our consulting engineering industry, the clients and funders of infrastructure, and representatives from other industries. Please take advantage of this wonderful chance to share your story about infrastructure connectivity.
My dear delegates and guests, I’ll be waiting you in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 24th -27th, June, 2018. I wish you will get the most out of this conference, and propel the infrastructure connectivity in our Asia and Pacific region toward a brighter future.
Hope you enjoy your stay at the Eastern Crossroads.
